ANNOUNCEMENT

Be advised that the latest TRG Group Project has been announced and is currently underway.  This years project is actually an individual (or teams of 2) project.  All teams will design and build a rocket to a specific mission criteria.  Only teams with at least one TRG Member will be accepted, but joining TRG is easy.  Just drop me an email at kevin@temecularocket.com or visit our Join Page.

The criteria is for this year's project is:  Design, Build and Fly a scratch or kit rocket carrying a standard major league baseball (3" diameter and mass of  5 ounces) to an altitude of exactly 1000 feet, remain aloft for the longest time possible, and land safely and gently with specific areas of the baseball exposed to sunlight, ie not inside a payload bay.  Teams may get "degree of difficulty" points and extra points for cleverness in design.  Any combination of certified motors (single motors, clusters, or staging) are allowed with a maximum total impulse of G-class (less than or equal to 160 newton-seconds).

To learn more about the contest, please visit our "TRG Chat" page and join TRG Chat.  Post a message with your request to join or ask any questions about the project.  We'll happily answer your questions.

Please Note that the next TRG Monthly Launch is Sunday January 25, 2009 at 9am until noon.

TRG Members Donate Books to the Temecula Library

Members of the TRG donated six books to the library just before the March Board of Directors meeting.  Thanks to Richard for coordinating the books, many of which were autographed by their authors, including Dr. Sally Ride, America's first woman in space.

The six books donated are:

The Mystery of Mars by Sally Ride
Looking for Life in the Universe by Ellen Jackson
The Third Planet by Sally Ride & Tom O'Shaughnessy
To Space & Back by Sally Ride & Susan Okie
Are We Alone? by Gloria Skurzynski.

Stop by the Temecula Public Library on Pauba and "check out" these books.

Also, Congratulations are in order for the newly elected TRG Board of Directors.  Annual Elections were held at the April meeting and the new board members are:

     Bryan Dierking - President
     Nathan Mazelin - Vice President
     Akshay Paul - Treasurer
     Jane Robertson - Secretary

The TRG has an exciting year of projects ahead.  It will be fun to work with the new Board in the coming months.

Thanks a lot to the former Board Members for a job well done this past year.
